There are three main dance traditions in Sri Lanka.They are Up country,Low country and Sabaragamuwa dance traditions.Upcountry dance is popular in the areas of Udunuwara,Yatiuwara and Kandy.Low country dance is popular in Galle,Matara and Hambanthota,while Sabaragamuwa dance is most popular in the Rathnapura district.Each of these dance traditions has its own costumes,musical instruments and rituals.The main instrument used in Kandyan dance is the "Gataberaya".The main instrument of the Low Country dance tradition is the "Dewol Beraya" and Sabaragamuwa dance tradition's main instrument is the "Daula".These three dance traditions have three Shanthikarmas.Nowadays,these dance traditions are declining due to some problems in the society.So we must protect these dance traditions for our next generation.❤️‍🩹💃🙏💪

01. This motivational session was held for us on 11th December 2024 at 1.00 p.m. 02. This motivational sesession was organize by Department of English Language Teaching,Faculty of Dance & Drama, University of the Visual and Performing Arts. 03. Ms.Chathurangi Abeshika was the guest speaker. 04. She is a lecturer of Department of History Theory of Dance & Drama,Faculty of Dance & Drama,University of the Visual Performing Arts. 05. We participated to this sesession by using zoom technology. 06. The lecturer taught us different ways to improve our English knowledge. 07. The lecturer taught us about the important of learning English. 08. The lecturer told us how she learned English at the university. 09. We got many valuable experiences to our life by this motivational session. 10. We thank to the Department of English Language Teaching for organizing such a session for us.🙏

  My name is Malasha Kavindi.But my friends call me "mal".I am 20 years old.I was born in Awissawella.But at present I live in Kosgama.I'm from a family of 5 members including myself.They are father,mother,brother and one sister.My religion is buddhist.I studied at Rajasinghe Central College Hanwalla.I have completed 4 months diploma course  in English at Britishway English Academy.I most like dancing, traveling,singing,fashion.I am interested in Dancing.Not only but also I have selected for The University of Visual and Performing arts.So currently I am studying in there.My ambition is to be a dancing teacher.Therefore I started my dancing tution classes for my future.So I hope that all my works will be successful in the future.
